BMW Hybrid Car: German Engineering Brilliance and Elegance fitted with Revolutionary Hybrid Technology, A combination of Style and Performance

Joining the number of Automobile manufacturers that have been concerned for the growing demand for environment friendly vehicles, German vehicle manufacturing giant BMW has announced that they too would soon be producing and selling Hybrid automobiles. Within the next four years, BMW will be providing its own version of the phenomenal and popular hybrid car.

Knowing the many innovations and excellent qualities BMW has contributed to the motor world, we have the ability to be sure that this would be another automotive engineering breakthrough that would set the par others would follow.

BMW stated that their Hybrid automobile would run on both Hydrogen and petroleum and this would be first infused in the 7 series BMW. Already, BMW has some of these automobiles test driven in different countries. Researchers and engineers are already staging some tests and are getting feedbacks to perfect their first hybrid automobile release. BMW doesn't want to release just a beautiful looking automobile, they want one that'll be truly environment friendly as well as performing beautifully.

Deviating from the usual fuel cells used by other hybrid automobile manufacturers, BMW decided on using hydrogen-fuel combined with an internal combustion engine. This led to more research and development needed because of the demand of the engine to keep the hydrogen in liquid form, and this poses as a problem in keeping them cold enough to do just that. If the engine becomes too hot, the hydrogen may evaporate requiring frequent fill ups. Another quandary is keeping the hydrogen from evaporating while in transit to the engine. But BMW has stated that it has found the solution to this problem.

BMW sees hydrogen as the solution, but it would take about two more decades before a automobile can actually be run by hydrogen only. But they're positive that this is very achievable.

BMW claims that for the past thirty years, they have been developing technology that could just lead to the first ever pure hydrogen car. They already have a car that's being powered by water, a vehicle that emits water vapor at the tailpipe, and are to retrieve hydrogen from sunlight.

BMW has been focusing on Hydrogen as a great power source for cars because it is the ideal solution to the ever-worsening emissions from automobiles that contributes to environmental pollution. This is because hydrogen doesn't have perilous emissions, it poses no harm to the atmosphere, it doesn't deplete natural resources, as it can be take from numerous recyclable sources. This is BMW's solution, powering cars with hydrogen produced from water through the use of solar energy. This advancement in technology is evident with the BMW 750hl production automobile showcased at the Expo 2000. Together with some of its partners, BMW may be behind in the mass production of Hybrid vehicles, but they're the forefront in Hybrid technology.

Soon enough, we will all be the beneficiaries of all of these developments and innovations. Not only will we able to save up on gas money, we will also be saving the environment. Owning a Hybrid vehicle doesn't have to mean riding in cramped cars with low engine power. With the unveiling of the BMW hybrid car in the near future, you get sophistication, power, elegance and style while helping clean up our air.

Which is Truly the Best Hybrid Vehicle Available Today?

Saving the environment through less gas emissions from vehicles have been becoming sort of a sacred statement today. More and more people are voicing out their concerns about saving the environment from deadly gas emissions from automobiles and yet are still buying vehicles. Well, the convenience a automobile gives is incomparable, but the damage it brings is amazing. That is why Hybrid Automobiles have become a viable solution in answering the call for convenient and simple modes of transportation and lessening or eradicating air pollution.

Many vehicle manufacturers have seen the potential of hybrid automobiles and have developed their own versions of this revolutionary automobile. At the forefront is Toyota and Honda who was the first ones to come up with mass produced hybrid vehicles and has a number of hybrid vehicles in their line up. GM has also come out with their Hybrid vehicles as well as Ford. With many Hybrid vehicles out in the market already, a consumer may wonder which is truly the Best Hybrid automobile available this day?

With the advent of technology and science, more and more gadgets and equipments are being offered today to suit different tastes, styles and preferences. That is why declaring one to be ultimately the best and perfect for all is quite impossible. This goes the same for automobiles. Depending on where you'll be using the car, what's best for you might not be necessarily be the ideal for another. But, they could be divided into categories and the ideal among them could be chosen.

According to current researches and surveys, here's the current list on what's considered the "best" by the consumers.

The Ideal Sedan Hybrid Vehicle distinction was awarded to the latest Honda Civic Hybrid. Improving significantly over its previous model, it has the sleek and sporty look the conventional Civic has and doesn't announce its being a hybrid. But being its owner, you will certainly feel the difference. You still get the high quality and comfort conventional Civics provides, but you go to gas stations to fill up less.

The Best SUV Hybrid award is given to the first ever SUV Hybrid in the market, the Ford Escape Hybrid. Its inception in the Hybrid market was such a massive success that although it already has competitors from Toyota and Lexus, it still reigns supreme. With many features and accessories plus the power of a small SUV, the Ford Escape is seen to just keeping superior and would be hailed as the Majesty of Hybrid SUV's for many years to come.

Voted for Ideal Hybrid car in terms of economy in pure fuel is the Honda Insight. Combining its distinctive aerodynamic body design and its lightweight finish plus of course its superb hybrid technology, the Insight produces the ideal figures in fuel economy. Although not as multi awarded nor as comfortable and powerful as its stable mate the Civic Hybrid, the Insight is ideal if you want fuel economy, and with the oil prices still surging upward, this is not a bad idea after all.

But gaining a lot of nod of approval from the Hybrid enthusiasts is the league leading and multi awarded Toyota Prius. Garnering the largest number of votes as the Hybrid car with over all great value, performance and design, this could most probably be the Hybrid automobile that most likely deserves to be called as the best hybrid vehicle available this day.

Ford Escape Hybrid Endures Commuter's Nightmare Road TestThe Ford Escape Hybrid (the first hybrid SUV) was run through a grueling "commuter's nightmare" road test at the New York International Vehicle Show. During the road test, the Ford Escape Hybrid averaged over 38 miles per gallon in a nonstop 37-hour drive in and around New York City.

The hybrid SUV started the test with one 15-gallon tank of gas. That one tank of fuel and a 330-volt electric battery kept the Ford Escape Hybrid running for 37 consecutive hours of city driving in the grueling urban congestion of Manhattan, for a total of 576 miles. The resulting fuel economy of the hybrid version of the Escape is a 75 percent improvement over the 20 mpg that the Environmental Protection Agency rates the conventional Ford Escape V-6 at.

An electric motor powered by a 330-volt nickel-metal battery pack and a conventional gas internal combustion engine are combined to run the Ford Escape Hybrid. When driving, the system chooses whether to use power from the electric motor or the gas engine, and when extra power is needed it will use both at the same time. Unlike some hybrid cars, the Ford Escape is capable of running on electric power exclusively, and at speeds up to 25 miles per hour. The system constantly evaluates how to maximize fuel economy, and will use the ideal combination of electric and gas power to achieve that.

The casual observer will be unable to tell the difference between the hybrid and conventional versions of the Escape as they look exactly the same, and in fact come off the same assembly line. The dash board even appears normal, though there's a battery level gauge, and the tachometer has a below-zero setting that indicates the vehicle is running in electric only mode.

In a midtown-Manhatten road test, the Ford Escape Hybrid performed at the same levels you would expect from a conventional SUV, despite the fact that it ran much of the test in electric-only mode. The gas engine kicked in smoothly when needed, and in electric-only mode the car is nearly silent.

When the gas engine is running, it also recharges the battery. Power generated by braking is also used to charge the battery (called regenerative braking). Despite common misconceptions, hybrid automobiles never have to be plugged in to an external electrical source for charging.

The Ford Escape Hybrid is a good option for those struggling to select between fuel economy and the comforts found in a SUV. You get the improved fuel economy and reduced emissions of a hybrid commuter vehicle, and also the 4WD performance of a conventional SUV with plenty of room for passengers, pets, and cargo.

How Hybrid Cars WorkMany consumers aren't satisfied to know that hybrid automobiles achieve excellent fuel economy and reduced emmissions, but also are also curious about how they work. Three primary components are integrated to make a hybrid: an internal combustion gas engine, an electric motor and a high-powered battery. A process called regenerative braking is used to capture energy and charge the battery. This is energy that would normally be lost during coasting or decelerating. The battery which is continuously recharged through this process provides power to the electric motor. If necessary, power from the gasoline engine might also be diverted to charge the battery. These charging strategies create an electrical power system that never needs to be plugged in to charge from an external source.

Those are the basics of hybrid cars in general. We will divide hybrids into two categories to examine further how the three components work together. Each category of hybrids incorporates the three components in its own way.

Mild Hybrids -
In the mild hybrid configuration the electric motor isn't able to function independently of the gas internal combustion engine. The vehicle is powered primarily by the gas engine, and the electric motor only provides supplemental power to assist when needed. The electric motor is capable of drawing energy from the battery or generating electricity to charge the battery, but it isn't capable of doing both at the same time. The Honda Civic and Insight are mild hybrid cars.

Full Hybrids -
Full hybrid cars integrate the three components in a way that grants the electric motor and the gas engine to operate independently of each other. For instance the electric motor is capable of operating on its own to provide light acceleration at low speeds. The gas engine then starts up and takes over at higher speeds. Both the electric motor and gas engine can operate in unison when more power is needed during hard acceleration, such as when climbing hills. Full hybrids are also able to draw energy from the battery and charge it at the same time. The Toyota Prius and Ford Escape are full hybrids.

Despite their differences, both types of hybrid vehicles achieve the goal of increased fuel economy and decreased emissions over standard gas or diesel powered vehicles.

The hybrid SUV has proven to maintain all of the power and utility of the traditional SUV, while also providing previously unheard of fuel economy and greatly reduced emissions. Toyota and Lexus are both offering 2006 hybrid SUV models, which were put through 1,000 mile road tests under all conditions for the following comparison.2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid

The Highlander Hybrid SUV is a seven-passenger car that doesn't sacrifice comfort for fuel economy. The hybrid model is just like the gas Highlander. It handles just as well, has a simple cabin design, and maintains the same 81 cubic feet of cargo capacity. The difference is that it achieves much greater fuel economy while being more powerful. Yes, you might go back and read that again. The hybrid version of the Highlander is actually MORE powerful than the gas model.

Toyota used the same 3.3 liter V6 in the hybrid SUV that it uses in the gas Highlander. They recalibrated it and added three electric motors. One of the electric motors is used for starting the internal combustion engine and also recharging the 288-volt battery pack. One works with the gas engine to drive the front wheels. And the other adds additonal power to the rear wheels when extra traction or power is needed (the third electric motor is not used on front-wheel drive models).

Do not let the silence fool you when starting the Toyota Highlander Hybrid SUV. The gas engine won't kick in until you hit 25 mph or you turn on the air conditioning.

The hybrid Highlander isn't lacking for power. In fact, the hybrid model boasts a whopping 268 horsepower compared to the gas model's 230. Acceleration is responsive at any speed with the electric motors handling the low-end pull, and the gas engine hitting its stride in midrange. The Highlander Hybrid went from zero to 60 in 7.2 seconds in track testing, making it one of the fastest SUVs (hybrid or internal combustion) in its price range.

During testing the Highlander Hybrid SUV only attained a 23 mpg average fuel economy. This was a bit disappointing, especially since Toyota claims 31 mpg city and 27 mpg highway, but in the 7-8 passenger SUV class it really doesn't get much superior than that. Hybrids perform much better in terms of fuel economy at low speeds because this is where they use more electricity than gas. While stuck in traffic the Highlander got about 30 mpg.

The 2006 Highlander Hybrid comes with more standard features than the gas model. The model tested came standard with leather and side airbags. But even after adjusting for the extras, you can anticipate to pay about $3,000 more for the hybrid over the conventional model. One incentive to purchase the hybrid model is you can take a $2,000 tax credit if you buy in 2005. However in 2006 the federal tax incentive drops to $500.

The 2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid SUV is the only hybrid that seats seven passengers.

2006 Lexus RX 400h

The Lexus RX 400h hybrid SUV is essentially the best-selling RX 330 with a hybrid drivetrain installed. And the wait list for the hybrid model was so long that Lexus was forced to set up a communication system specifically for keeping customers updated on the vehicle's progress. Due to the early buzz created by the RX 400h, Lexus is now planning hybrid versions of the GS and LS sedans.

The RX 400h hybrid SUV uses the same drivetrain as the Toyota Highlander Hybrid and is rated for fuel economy at 31 mpg city and 27 mpg highway. The Lexus is available in all-wheel drive only.

The RX 400h is 100 pounds heavier than the Highlander, but equalled the Toyota's zero to 60 time at 7.2 seconds. In the quarter mile the Lexus slightly outperformed the Toyota hybrid SUV at 15.3 seconds.

Like the Highlander, the Lexus RX 400h has more power than it's gas counterpart. Even at 300 pounds heavier than the RX 300, the 400h felt considerably faster, even when easily ascending steep highway grades. The RX 400h has a tighter suspension than the Highlander Hybrid, as well as 18-inch tires, which made for better handling and an exciting drive.

The Lexus delivered a disappointing 22 mpg average, with the best tank at 24 mpg. Despite those numbers, compare it with the gas RX 300 which when tested only averaged 16 mpg.

There's a marked increase in engine noise with the RX 400h when under hard acceleration. More so than with the RX 330. There was a similar problem with the Toyota, but the difference seemed greater in the Lexus.

The Lexus RX 400h hybrid SUV has a sticker of $11,000 more than the base RX 330, but it comes with just about each possible feature. If you add all of those features to the RX 330, the difference is only about $3,000 which is comparable to the difference in the Toyota models.

Hybrid Vehicles Tax Rebate: The Benefits You Get When You Own a Hybrid Automobile

Hybrid automobiles are one of the latest innovations in the car industry this day. Because of the rising cost of fuel, automobile manufacturers have integrated the hybrid technology in their cars. The concept of the hybrid engine technology is actually very simple to explain. Although hybrid vehicles still use fuel, it can efficiently save it. This is because the hybrid technology combines the electric motor technology with the gasoline engine.

With the hybrid technology, it allows consumers to save as much as 30 miles a gallon on fuel. The main advantage of hybrid vehicles is when the vehicle stops or when it is running on idle mode, it automatically shuts off the gasoline engine. However, the car will continue running but it will run on the electric motor. Therefore, it saves a lot on fuel. Just imagine being stuck on traffic, with the hybrid technology, you'll never waste precious and pricey fuel when the car is running idle. This is also the reason why hybrid cars are so quiet when it is stationary. When you step on the accelerator, the gasoline engine automatically turns on again.

Another reason why hybrid automobiles are now preferred by most people is that it emits lower levels of toxic emissions. This means that hybrid vehicles are environmentally friendly. Just imagine, if all people would start using hybrid automobiles, it will lessen the emission of carbon dioxide. For this reason, it will effectively stop global warming.

Because hybrid vehicles can both help in saving precious fuel and reduce the emission of toxic fumes, the government is now taking all the necessary steps to promote the hybrid technology. The consumer who owns a hybrid vehicle can enjoy more benefits than you may envision. Not only will they save a lot of money on fuel, and help produce a cleaner environment, but they have the ability to also enjoy tax rebates.

Back in 2005, the President of the United Says signed an agreement back in the year 2005 that says that hybrid vehicle buyers will be able to like huge amounts of tax relief. However, the amount of money you will save on the tax incentives will also vary on the hybrid vehicle you buy.

The first one you've to consider when getting a tax break is that it will depend on the fuel efficiency of the hybrid vehicle you purchased when you compare it to a conventional car in the same weight class manufactured back in the year 2002. The more it saves fuel, the more massive the tax break will be.

The tax break imposed on a hybrid vehicle will also vary on the amount of gasoline that the hybrid vehicle can save in its total years of operation when it is compared to a conventional car in the same weight class. The more gasoline it saves, the bigger your tax relief will be.

It is a fact that hybrid cars can be high-priced. However, just consider the long term benefits that the hybrid vehicle can give you. If you calculate overall total expenses of a hybrid automobile and compare it to the total expenses of a conventional automobile during its lifetime, you will see that you can save more money on fuel. You'll also save money on taxes. You will see that purchasing a hybrid car is definitely a good investment that all people should think about.

Not only will you be able contribute in producing a cleaner environment and save a lot of money on precious, expensive and limited supply of fuel, but you'll also save a lot of money on tax rebates for hybrid car buyers.

Getting to Know the Ford Hybrid Car and their Distinct Innovative Advantages

Ford has always been a brand name that signifies excellence, innovation, dedication and is really an All-American brand name. One of the biggest players in the motor industry, Ford has never failed to provide the American population and the world, cutting edge automobiles that caters to every needs.

With the growing environmental concerns not just in USA, Ford has joined the Hybrid bandwagon and came up with their own Hybrid card. It is popularly known that Americans love the room and power that SUV's provide, and with the hybrid sedan crowding with Japanese manufactured hybrid automobiles, Ford decided to infuse their hybrid technology with a automobile they know many Americans would embrace, a Hybrid SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) in the form of the Ford Escape Hybrid.

The Ford Escape Hybrid was first introduced in 2004 and is a gas electric powered compact SUV. Consumer demand became strong for the Ford Escape Hybrid prompting Ford to produce more of the gas saving SUV.

To avoid any legal issues, Ford went into an agreement with Toyota to use some of the patented hybrid technology previously used in the very successful Toyota Prius. By 2006, The Hybrid system utilized by Ford is acknowledged as one of the more advanced technology being offered. The Ford Escape Hybrid is now available as a full hybrid motor vehicle. It makes use of different power combinations that adjusts to the driving style to conserve more power and achieve maximum potential and efficiency in performance. Compared to the conventional gas fed Ford escape, they provide the same performance, comfort with less fuel consumption.

Aside from the Ford escape Hybrid, Ford has also released another Hybrid SUV under one of their automobile brand names, Mercury. The Mercury mariner has many similarities with the Ford Escape Hybrid and its soon to be released sibling the Mazda Tribute Hybrid. Ford plans to further develop their SUV hybrid lineup concentrating on this segment but is not dismissing the hybrid sedan segment and have plans to introduce hybrid sedans in the future.

Fords research and design table are now over flowing with plans to further boost awareness and concern with environmental issues and have dedicated to provide more alternative powered vehicles as they see that this is the future. This is because Hybrid automobiles offer a lot of advantages and benefits that does not only cater to environmental issues but as to the pockets of the consumers as well.

With a Ford hybrid vehicle, you'll soon notice that you'll be doing less pit stops for refueling as you can squeeze out more miles to a gallon. With the ever escalating prices of fuel, this is a warmly welcomed change. You will also notice the significant lowering of the sounds the engine makes. Plus, some states offer tax rebates when purchasing hybrid automobiles, which translates to more savings in the bank.

Ford has now over a hundred patents pending to further develop their Hybrid technology. All of them would be able to make our lives superior. With Ford Hybrid cars, you get the same comfort, same performance and same space but with less gas emissions and less gas spending. You get true value for your money and your helping our environment at the same time.

Hybrid Cars: The Different Prices of These Technologically Advanced Vehicles

Hybrid vehicles are one of the latest break-throughs in the auto industry. These automobiles are made to save a lot of fuel, and emit much lower levels of toxic fumes when compared to conventional vehicles. You've to consider the fact that hybrid automobiles are getting more and more popular because of these features.

A growing number of people are now considering getting a hybrid automobile because of the amount of money they'll save on fuel and taxes. It is a fact that hybrid vehicles can be quite expensive in retail price when compared to conventional vehicles. However, you also have to consider the amount of money you'll save from the rising cost of fuel in the long run. If you try computing and comparing the total expenses you will make on hybrid automobiles against conventional cars, you'll see that hybrid automobiles is a much cheaper alternative. You will see that conventional vehicles will be much more high-priced when it comes to total consumption of fuel.

Also, when you purchase a hybrid vehicle, you will enjoy tax breaks. This will mean more money saved on taxes. Not only that, you will help contribute in creating a much cleaner environment because of the extremely low levels of toxic emissions of hybrid automobiles when compared to conventional vehicles.

Now that you know what benefits that a hybrid car can give, you now want to know how hybrid automobiles work and why it saves a lot of money on fuel.

First of all, the hybrid car technology has been around for quite sometime now. Only now that people have began to realize the benefits of a hybrid car can give them.

If you're a person who is trying to save money on fuel and is shocked by the rising price of gasoline the next time you pulled your vehicle to a gas pump, the hybrid vehicle is for you. The hybrid engine technology has been around for quite some time now. Most locomotives today are now using the hybrid engine technology. They have diesel electric engines that help in saving a lot of money on fuel. Some have nuclear-electric engines similar to what you'll see on a nuclear submarine.

The hybrid vehicle is a cross between an electric-powered car and a gas-powered vehicle. When the car is running, it will use the gasoline to power the car. When it stops or when the car is idle, it will automatically switch of the gasoline engine and will run on the electric engine. This means that when you're stuck in a heavy traffic using a hybrid automobile, you'll not use the gasoline engine while you're waiting for the traffic to move. Once you stepped on the accelerator pedal, it will automatically switch on the gasoline engine. Therefore, it will allow you to save a lot of money on gasoline. It will also help lowering the amount of toxic emissions that the car releases in the atmosphere.

A typical hybrid automobile can cost as much as $30,000. It may seem a little too steep when you compare it to a conventional automobile. However, just think of the savings you can have from the rising prices of gasoline.

Hybrid vehicle prices may be expensive but in the long run, you'll save a lot more money than you can envision. These are the benefits you can get with a hybrid vehicle.

Plug-In Hybrid Cars: A Cheaper Alternative

Because of the constant increase in fuel prices, many people are now considering getting rid of their gas guzzling conventional automobile and are now purchasing a cheaper alternative. Some people purchase automobiles with smaller engines for fuel efficiency and some people are now thinking of purchasing the vehicle with the latest technology that enables them to cut fuel consumption by half.

These automobiles are called plug-in hybrid vehicles. With this car, you'll be able to cut fuel consumption by more than half by taking advantage of the hybrid technology that many car manufacturers are now integrating in their new car models. Although plug in hybrid vehicles have existed for quite some time now, it was only about a few years ago that it was released in the market.

Plug-in hybrid vehicles are vehicles that combine the gasoline energy and the electric energy to run or to propel the car. Plug-in hybrid vehicles will enable you to run your vehicle up to a hundred miles per gallon depending on the engine and the battery installed.

If you think that getting a good mileage per gallon is non existent, think again. With the technology being integrated by automobile manufacturers in their hybrid vehicles, it is now possible. This automobile has two engines to run your vehicle. One is the gasoline engine and the other is the electric motor. Just envision a automobile that has an extension cord that you can plug-in in your home electricity outlet to recharge. You do not even to worry about the cost of your electric bill because the recharging will just be equal to less than a dollar per gallon.

Just envision a vehicle that has two fuel sources. If one runs out, the car will still be able to run. You do not have to plug in your plug-in hybrid vehicle but if you do, your vehicle becomes an electric vehicle that will be able to run quietly, cleaner, cheaper and more efficient than conventional gasoline powered vehicles. You've to consider that the gasoline tanks are there for long driving purposes.

However, when you are only driving locally, you don't need to fill your automobile with gasoline. All you need to do is plug-in your automobile to your home's electric outlet and once it is fully charged, your car will be ready to go using the electric motor.

Imagine the savings that you can get with a plug-in hybrid car.

However, these things are not the only benefits that you can get with plug-in hybrid automobiles. You'll be shocked once you find out about the other benefits that you can get with a hybrid automobile. If you have a hybrid car, the service cost will tend to be lower because it is mainly electric.

Another great thing about plug-in hybrid automobiles is that it will be able to power your home in case of power outage. It can act as an electricity generator.

Recently, tax incentives have been imposed by the government to hybrid vehicle buyers. This means that as a buyer of a plug-in hybrid car, you'll be able to care about tax breaks.

You'll also help improve the condition of the environment because it runs on the cleanest energy source available, which is electricity. This means that the vehicle will produce no toxic emissions when it is running on electricity. Also, when it runs on gasoline, the emissions are also very low because of the small size of the gasoline engine.

These are some of the benefits that you can get with plug-in hybrid cars. So, if you think that you're spending too much on gasoline for your gas-guzzling conventional vehicle, you can begin saving money by getting a plug-in hybrid vehicle.
